Audits - Quantum's Total System
Evaluation Approach©

Quantum has performed the audits of over 30,000,000 square feet of facilities. All of the projects in which Quantum performed the audit have exceeded their energy savings projections.

  1. Total System Monitoring
Total System Monitoring©: We are unique in the depth of knowledge and information that we gather on existing systems. Quantum monitors all motors and systems over 3 HP at each facility for a period of at least two weeks. We make extensive use of monitoring instruments, historical data, and site visits to establish the baseline energy use of these systems that may be impacted by conservation measures.

  2. Total System ModelingTotal System Modeling©: For HVAC systems, Quantum has developed proprietary software that accepts the Total System Monitoring data, and translates it into system energy use based on typical weather data. This energy use profile is provided on an hourly basis for a typical year, and matches precisely to the monitored data as well as to the utility bills. The Total System Model also performs modifications to the baseline energy use profile in order to show the future, or proposed energy use, and projected savings.

For lighting and plumbing systems, Quantum prepares a spreadsheet showing the baseline and proposed technology, energy or water use, and cost for each fixture in the facility. This results in a simple payback analysis of each individual recommended retrofit in the facility. This analysis is then “winnowed” to meet the clients financial criteria.

  3. Project Evaluation Tool©: Quantum provides a Project Evaluation Tool that facilitates selection of conservation measures by the owner. These selected measures then go into design and construction.
New Energy
Efficiency Grants

Washington

For Washington’s K-12 schools, colleges and universities there’s never been a better time to pursue energy and water conservation based facility improvements, with $100 million in competitive grants available to support these activities and create jobs. And there is no ESCo with a more successful track record of securing these competitive grants than Quantum. A pilot program in 2009 saw grants awarded to 50 school districts – 24 of which are Quantum customers. For more information on how to take advantage of the new grants, call Fritz Feiten at (206) 523-5314.
