Naselle Youth Camp- Energy Management & Lighting Services (2003)
$491,000 project cost, $41,000 annual energy savings, $55,000 utility incentive.
Scope
Installed an energy management system (EMS) throughout the campus (12 buildings). The EMS controlled the majority of mechanical systems on campus. Installed new heat pumps in four living units to replace electrical resistance heat. Installed a new propane boiler to replace a failed heat pump serving the Gym building. Installed radiant heating systems in shops. Performed a retrofit of existing fixtures to compact fluorescent and electronic ballasts in the Gym.
Notable Facts
- All work performed in occupied buildings.
- Greatly improved comfort, indoor air quality, and energy savings.
“The savings are above the estimates, and we have much better control over the comfort in the buildings. My maintenance personnel can respond much more quickly and effectively to issues as they arise. I couldn’t be more pleased with the project.”

Efficiency Grants

For Washington’s K-12 schools, colleges and universities there’s never been a better time to pursue energy and water conservation based facility improvements, with $100 million in competitive grants available to support these activities and create jobs. And there is no ESCo with a more successful track record of securing these competitive grants than Quantum. A pilot program in 2009 saw grants awarded to 50 school districts – 24 of which are Quantum customers. For more information on how to take advantage of the new grants, call Fritz Feiten at (206) 523-5314.
