Scope

The project consisted of a retrofit and replacement of various plumbing, mechanical and lighting systems throughout eight buildings owned by the City. In the City Hall, the main building chillers and cooling towers were replaced by lowering the new units through the roof, and a new boiler system was installed. The control system was upgraded and re-programmed.

In the Commons (recreation) building, new air handlers were installed for the Gym, new boilers were installed, and controls were upgraded. Installed occupancy sensors in various areas to improve overall efficiency of systems and installed CO2 sensors in fans.

Water conservation retrofits to plumbing fixtures were performed throughout all city buildings. Irrigation system replacement and upgrades were done throughout. Lighting retrofits and replacements were performed throughout all buildings

Notable Facts

  • 17 buildings were included in the project.  All work done in fully occupied buildings with no significant disruption to occupants
  • Greatly improved comfort, indoor air quality, and energy savings.
  • Significant reduction in maintenance & operation costs due to new equipment.

“I’m very pleased with the project. We were able to install new equipment in the City Hall to replace failed systems. We were able to resolve problems with our buildings that we couldn’t fix in other ways.”

New Energy
Efficiency Grants

Washington

For Washington’s K-12 schools, colleges and universities there’s never been a better time to pursue energy and water conservation based facility improvements, with $100 million in competitive grants available to support these activities and create jobs. And there is no ESCo with a more successful track record of securing these competitive grants than Quantum. A pilot program in 2009 saw grants awarded to 50 school districts – 24 of which are Quantum customers. For more information on how to take advantage of the new grants, call Fritz Feiten at (206) 523-5314.
