Scope

Installed a heat recovery system to recover heat rejected by the computer cooling system, and use it to preheat the ventilation air for the building. Piping, pumps, heat exchangers and sophisticated controls were used to transfer the heat to where it is most needed.  Also added heating systems to areas that were in need of additional heat.

Notable Facts

  • All work performed in a 24 hour per day data center without any disruption to the occupants or the computers.
  • Improved the redundancy of the existing heat rejection system for the computers. Improved and added to the energy management control system, increasing system reliability and failure reporting capabilities

“Thank you for the outstanding work you did on the DIS/NRB Heat Recovery Measure (ECM) Team… Quantum Engineering, thanks for a job well done."
Governor, State of Washington

New Energy
Efficiency Grants

Washington

For Washington’s K-12 schools, colleges and universities there’s never been a better time to pursue energy and water conservation based facility improvements, with $100 million in competitive grants available to support these activities and create jobs. And there is no ESCo with a more successful track record of securing these competitive grants than Quantum. A pilot program in 2009 saw grants awarded to 50 school districts – 24 of which are Quantum customers. For more information on how to take advantage of the new grants, call Fritz Feiten at (206) 523-5314.
